Silver State Academy donates service every Tuesday and Thursday at the Safe Haven dog shelter. Safe Haven is a local dog adoption and rescue center that was created to make our needy, homeless, or injured dog’s lives a little better while waiting for a permanent home. When volunteering, Rite of Passage students walk, feed, and care for dogs along with helping maintain the chores managed by the good people at Safe Haven. This last month, students and staff worked together to build 3 large dog houses and deliver them to the shelter. Construction instructor Harold Whalin shared the following;
“This was a great experience, not only for the Construction Trades part of the program, designing and building the dog houses, but for the students being able to provide help for the animal shelter and their animals.”
The students provided a wealth of positive attitudes and support along with their service to the community. Silver State Academy wants to convey our absolute appreciation and support for those who work hard to improve upon their and other’s communities. Thank you for your constant service, Safe Haven.
